In 1953 begins the history of our ski school which was founded by the state-certified ski instructor Karl Peis. After Hans Buhl passed his exam to become a certified ski instructor in Austria in 1971 and gained some years of experience in Austrian ski schools, his time in the ski school Winterberg began in 1980. In 1992 Karl Peis took over. A change of location in 1994, the addition of a branch at the Bremberg location show the steady growth of the ski school. After the takeover by grandson Marc Buhl in 2015, the complete digitalization of the ski school also takes place in 2018, courses and private lessons can also be conveniently booked online from this time. Since 2019 we can be found in our new premises at the Herrloh. In 2020 followed the "summer program" bike & hike and since 2021 the ski school is completely equipped for skiing with handicap. We look forward to many more years in the snow!

1953
Foundation of the first ski school in Winterberg by Karl Peis on December 1, 1953.
1961
Private lessons are introduced. After initially offering only group lessons in the first few years, private lessons for individual customer care were added in the 61/62 season.
1971
Hans Buhl completes his training as a certified ski instructor at the Tauplitz-Alm in Austria.
1976
The ski school opens the new season on an artificial ski slope already on October 10, 1976. The artificial mats were purchased due to lack of snow in the mid-70s.
1980
After several years as a trainer and ski instructor in Austrian ski schools, Hans Buhl moves permanently to Karl Peis' Winterberg ski school.
1992
After several years in charge of the ski school, Hans Buhl henceforth takes over the complete Winterberg ski school from Karl Peis.
1994
From the former miniature golf course on the right side of the Herrloh slopes, the ski school moves to the left side of the Herrloh to its current location and training slope after the completion of the bypass and Herrloh tunnel.
2000
In Bremberg, a branch of the ski school is opened at lift no. 10.
2009
The first ski instructors are hired full-time for the season.
2015
After a long time in the business, Marc Buhl takes over the ski school from his grandfather Hans Buhl at the age of 22.
2018
Digitalization is also catching on at the ski school. From now on, courses and individual lessons can be booked online.
2019
Move to the current location. Together with the Herrloh hut and the ski rental Klante, a large multifunctional building is occupied.
2020
Expansion of the offer to include the "bike & hike" areas.
2021
Winterberg Ski School is fully equipped for people with disabilities. Equipment and training for all disabilities are available.
2023
70th anniversary of the Ski School Winterberg!
